
LOWVILLE- Firefighters say a furnace unit was damaged in a Tuesday afternoon fire in Lowville, NY.
It happened at around 2:40 p.m. on North State Street. Witnesses reported black smoke coming from the roof of the structure.
Fire Chief Joe Austin says responding units found the blaze in the furnace unit.
Firefighters managed to contain and extinguish the flames, with the only damage reported to the furnace unit itself, which was taken out of service.
Chief Austin says a fuel issue was to blame in this fire.
The local codes office was notified due to the heating unit being taken out of service.
No injuries were reported.
