LEWIS COUNTY- A garage and its contents were completely destroyed in a blaze this week outside of Lowville, NY.
It happened shortly after 3:30 p.m. Lowville Fire Department was the primary responder to 7208 North Chases Lake Road.
Fire Chief Joe Austin says the blaze was sparked by an outside wood boiler system, which was housed in the garage and somehow malfunctioned.
Croghan, Glenfield, Martinsburg and New Bremen Fire Departments were all called for mutual aid.
It took fire fighters about 2-hours to get the flames under control. There was no insurance on the structure, which was owned by Fred Gardner and Stephanie Kirkbride, Lowville Fire Department said.
When all was said and done, the garage and its contents, including two vehicles, tools and welding equipment, were all a total loss.
No injuries were reported.
Members from Search & Rescue, the Sheriff’s Office, National Grid and Town of Watson all assisted.
