WASHINGTON, D.C. – As the Holiday season marches on, experts say weaker oil prices are a primary factor behind the steady decline of gas prices around the country.
“More than half of all US fuel locations have gasoline below $3 per gallon,” said AAA Spokesperson Andrew Gross.
“By the end of the year, the national average may dip that low as well.”
For this report, officials say oil has struggled recently to stay above $70 per-barrel. As of Tuesday morning, the national average fuel price was $3.13, with a New York State average of $3.47.
Last-year around the holidays, the national average was slightly higher at $3.26.

The latest gas prices for the Boonville, Lowville and Old Forge NY regions were not available via GasBuddy when publishing this report.
However with that being said, it seems that local gas prices have been within the range of $3.50 to $3.70 over the past few weeks, according to previous publications.
In Watertown, NY, GasBuddy is reporting prices as low as $3.09, with other prices ranging up to $3.50.
Although it’s not quite as cheap, GasBuddy is reporting prices in the Syracuse, NY region as low as $3.39 as of this publication.
In the Mohawk Valley region, GasBuddy suggests pump prices can be found as low as $3.49 in Rome, NY and $3.29 in Utica, NY.
