Nearly 3-dozen states now have average gas prices that are finally lower than what they were this time last-year.
The latest national average (as of this report) is $3.26, according to the AAA. “The seasonal pattern of less driving due to shorter days and crummy weather, combined with a lower oil cost, is driving gas prices lower,” said Andrew Gross, AAA spokesperson.
“If this trend continues, many states could see their average prices fall below $3 a gallon by early next year.”
Starting off this week, New York’s average price for gas sat just below $3.60. That’s compared to $3.52 last-year.

Meanwhile, the same source suggests the lowest gas prices near Watertown are just below $3.30. Furthermore, prices in Syracuse are as low as $3.27 and prices in Utica remain as low as $3.49.
