Gas prices have remained steady over the past couple of weeks, despite an early season hurricane and record holiday/summer travel.

That’s according to the AAA. As of this report Wednesday morning, the national average rang-in at $3.51.

That’s nearly identical to last-week and a year ago now, but up slightly from a $3.44 average from June.

Here in New York, drivers are paying a statewide average of $3.62 as of this report, which is nearly identical to last month and cheaper from last-years $3.67 average at this time.

“The damage from Beryl caused limited damage to Gulf Coast energy facilities,” said Andrew Gross, AAA spokesperson.

“And while a record 60 million travelers were forecast to hit the highways for the July 4th holiday, the overall demand number for gasoline dropped. That is a rare feat for a holiday week and may point to a change in demand trends.”

Locally, drivers are filling up for as low as $3.59 in Lowville, NY and $3.69 in Boonville, NY, according to GasBuddy.

For comparison, reports from GasBuddy suggest a similar price range in the cities of Watertown and Syracuse, NY, where some establishments there have been offering even cheaper cash prices.

In Rome, NY, drivers are paying similar gas prices, with some establishments selling fuel as high as $3.75.

The same can be said for the city of Utica, NY as well.
