Increased demand and higher global oil prices are key factors regarding the latest rise in pump prices, officials say.
The National Average as of this report was at an even $3.50, according to the AAA. Meanwhile, New York’s average is slightly higher at $3.57. Last-year at this time, it was $3.54.
“January’s weather was relatively mild in much of the nation, which led to more drivers hitting the road. However, a return of wintery conditions in February may see a revival of seasonal driving patterns,” said Andrew Gross, AAA spokesperson.

“But with the cost of oil stubbornly hovering around $80 per barrel, drivers probably won’t catch a big break at the pump over the next week or two.”
According to GasBuddy, the latest gas prices between Boonville and Lowville, NY range from $3.51 to $3.77.
Meanwhile just north of us, there are prices as low as $3.31 in Watertown, NY. Prices in the Syracuse, NY area are similar, while the Utica, NY area seems to hold prices in-between.
If you, the consumer, feel as if your gas station is price gouging, the office of New York's Attorney General invites you to fill out a complaint form online.
