WATERTOWN- Western New York and the North Country are in the crosshairs for a significant lake effect snow blitz through early Saturday and Governor Hochul says she will declare a State of Emergency.
"My team and I are deploying emergency response assets ahead of the storm, remain in constant contact with local officials, and are laser focused on the forecast,β she said.
βNew Yorkers should remain vigilant ahead of the storm and avoid any unnecessary travel during these hazardous conditions."
The bulls-eyes for this storm are focused around the Buffalo and Watertown areas. The forecast suggests areas of the North Country might receive 30-inches, plus.
The heaviest snowfall is expected Thursday night through Friday.
Hazardous travel conditions and local power outages as a result of the storm are likely due to the combination of snow, ice and wind in the forecast.
Governor Hochul urged New Yorkers to stay alert and avoid unnecessary travel in the Buffalo and Watertown areas Thursday evening through Friday.
