LOWVILLE- This is something you certainly don’t see every day…
Local agencies in Lewis County assisted with removing a hawk from a Lowville, NY area grocery store earlier this month.
In the latest New York State DEC ENCON Highlights, it’s reported that authorities were made aware of a hawk that had become trapped in the deli section of a local grocery store in the town of Lowville.
The incident occurred on January 7 and the store location was not revealed by DEC officials (although readers may note the store based on the DEC issued image).
With that said, a member of the Sheriff’s Office reached out to Environmental Conservation Officer (ECO) Kraeger to assist employees in safely apprehending the Hawk.
ECO Kraeger found several employees guarding the deli area, as the Hawk had apparently flew in when the front sliding entrance door was open.
The Hawk had perched itself on a storage shelf, where Officer Kraeger managed to safely capture the bird and then release it a short while later, unharmed.
