ALBANY, NY- The U.S. Capitol insurrection, rising crime rates and arguments over abortion were all hot topics of interest during the latest gubernatorial debate between Kathy Hochul and her Republican challenger, Lee Zeldin.
The debate was televised on Tuesday. According to the Associated Press, Zeldin made a point to go after Hochul over the state’s controversial bail reform laws, while Hochul fired back accusing Zeldin on his abortion views.
Hochul also went on to blast Zeldin over his climate stances and the fact that he voted against certifying the 2020 Presidential election results in both Arizona and Pennsylvania.
Zeldin claims that, if elected, he would put effort into installing voter ID laws.
Some of the latest polling numbers suggest that, although Hochul seems to haves a stronger hold in the metropolitan and New York City area, Zeldin has been gaining traction all across the rest of the state.
The latest poll reports suggest the favorability gap between the two may very well be closing.
