Oneida County man indicted by grand jury for sexually assaulting four children

ONEIDA COUNTY- A local man is faced with numerous charges for sexually assaulting children in the wake of a grand jury indictment.

Michael Provost, 34, of Lee, NY was arrested on Wednesday by the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office. Investigators say Provost allegedly engaged sexual contact with a female child under the age of 11 over the last two-years.

While authorities worked that case, they discovered that Provost also did the same with two additional female children and one boy, all under the age of 11.

A grand jury indictment included 8 class A-II felony counts of predatory sexual assault against a child, along with 8 more felony counts of criminal sex act in the first-degree; 8 felony counts of sex abuse in the first-degree and two misdemeanor counts each of assault in the third-degree and endangering the welfare of a child.

Provost was arraigned and jailed on $75,000 cash bail.

Orders of protection were issued on behalf of the court and counseling services have been offered for the victims via the Oneida County Child Advocacy Center.

No further details regarding the case were provided by investigators.
