Waters Road Lowville Fire September 2023

LEWIS COUNTY- An electrical issue has been determined the cause of an early Sunday blaze outside of Lowville, NY, emergency responders are reporting.

It was sometime near 2:30 a.m. when Lowville Fire Department was alerted to reports of a blaze at 5966 Waters Road.

Castorland and New Bremen Fire Departments provided mutual aid.

Firefighters managed to bring the flames under control within a half-hour, with another two-and-a-half-hours dedicated to overhaul measures.

The modified trailer, which was deemed a total loss, was owned by Randy Hulbert and occupied by Heath Hudson and Brianna Mullin (and kids).

There was minimal insurance by the owner and no rental insurance for the tenants, emergency responders said.

According to Fire Chief Joe Austin, there were no injuries from this blaze, however; there were "a few" cats unaccounted for. At-least one of them was spotted running around outside while firefighters worked the scene.

Chief Austin says the fire cause is electrical in nature. American Red Cross is providing assistance.

The Sheriff's Office, Beaver Falls Ambulance, Search & Rescue and National Grid all assisted.
