LEWIS COUNTY- A home in Castorland, NY had “very little damage” following reports of a chimney fire early Monday.
It happened shortly before 6:00 a.m. on Elm Street. Castorland Fire Department was the primary responder, with Lowville providing mutual aid.
According to officials, there was concern the fire was spreading into the peak of the structure, but fortunately the flames were contained to the chimney thanks to strategies and teamwork executed by firefighters.
Despite the chimney sustaining significant damage, authorities said there was very little damage throughout the rest of the house, minus some minor smoke damage.
Still, officials said the address can still be occupied.
