LOWVILLE- There is an ongoing expansion project at the Lewis County DMV Office.

County Clerk Jake Moser told us the goal is to eventually share space with the Board of Elections. "We still have offices that actually lease space from other outside people, so what we're trying to do is bring all of the offices to county owned properties," Moser explained.

"So even though we're building an addition down there, we are bringing down another department so there will actually be two departments down there when it's all said and done."

Once the project is complete, Moser says part of his DMV office will be moving out, where the other half will be occupied by Board of Elections, while the old DMV will have all of its interior walls gutted out.

Eventually, Moser says there will be an early voting area. Furthermore, state regulations require a certain amount of square footage per voting machine.
