PORT LEYDEN- North Country Representative Elise Stefanik says she is proud to have helped secure over $17 million in federal funding for various projects around the North Country, including right here in Lewis County.
According to Stefanik’s office, $2 million of this funding has been allocated to the village of Port Leyden to assist in replacing severely deteriorated water mains.
“The funds allocated will enable the completion of our comprehensive water infrastructure improvement project, a critically important initiative that will enhance the safety, efficiency, and long-term sustainability of the Village’s water system," said Mayor Heather Collins.
“Throughout my time in Congress, I have delivered significant results and nearly $1 billion in federal funds, and that work will continue this year," Stefanik said.
Just recently, over $2 million in Regional Economic Development Council Awards were announced for workforce training, child care, flood mitigation, infrastructure resilience, recreation and economic development.
Lewis County received nearly $200,000 for flood resiliency and another $208,000 allotment for trail maintenance equipment.
“These investments reflect the real priorities of the North Country, strengthening our workforce, protecting our communities from flooding, improving infrastructure and supporting local economic growth,” said New York State Assemblyman Ken Blankenbush.
“This funding will help our towns, counties and local organizations move important projects forward that make our region a better place to live, work and raise a family.”
