LOWVILLE- After closing off their maternity ward in the fall of 2021, Lewis County Health System is pleased to announce its return come spring of 2024.

The development was revealed while officials celebrated the grand-opening of the hospital's brand-new surgical pavilion.

"In order for us to provide a full spectrum of women's health services, we must continue to recruit the next generations of OBGYN's," said CEO Gerry Cayer during the ceremony in late November.

The hospital cut off its maternity ward due to numerous employees stepping down over COVID vaccine mandates, which subsequently led to neighboring hospitals in picking up the slack.

The maternity ward at Lewis County Health System is aimed to return in late March, according to an announcement made by CEO Cayer during the November surgical pavilion ceremony.
