ALBANY, NY- Governor Kathy Hochul says there is currently a pattern of increasingly common acts of political violence, with the latest being the assassination of political activist, Charlie Kirk.
The Governor named off a list of other similar incidents or attempts, all of which have occurred over the last several months, including the assassination attempts and/or plots against Donald Trump; the assassination of Minnesota House Speaker Melissa Hortman and the shooting of State Senator John Hoffman; a plot to kidnap Governor Gretchen Whitmer; a firebombing at the home of Governor Josh Shapiro; and the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021.
She says all of these are not isolated. “And unless we take action, it won’t stop here,” Hochul declared (see full remarks here).
Meanwhile, there is a publication by the New York Post that claims the states of New York and New Jersey did not immediately step in concert with a President Trump directive last Wednesday to lower U.S. flags nationwide in honor of Kirk.
However, the report clarified that New York officials planned to lower flags on the day of Kirk’s funeral.
