UTICA, NY- Last week, we aired a report highlighting the significant price gap at the gas pumps.

For example, people are paying just above or just below $4 per-gallon out in the Syracuse region, according to GasBuddy.

Meanwhile, folks in Lowville, Boonville and Old Forge are all paying at-least 50-cents or more higher. Why such a difference?

People have been asking for weeks, especially with inflation eating away at everyone's paychecks.

We finally found an answer, and it deals primarily with a lack of competition. At-least that's according to Patti Artessa, AAA'S Northeast Regional Director of Public and Government Affairs.

She joined out North Country News Tuesday to explain the scenario. Be sure to listen to our latest on-air segment here:

If you feel as if you are being price gouged, you can reach out and file a complaint to the New York Attorney General's Office.
