LOWVILLE- Could the fourth time be the charm? Village and county officials certainly hope so, as anticipation builds following the fourth application recently submitted for New York's Downtown Revitalization Initiative.
This is Lowville's fourth attempt. Selected cities and or villages receive $10 million to help rebuild and refurbish downtown areas.
According to Mayor Joe Beagle, if the village is awarded with funding this time around, he would like to see the empty buildings, located down along the railroad tracks on Trinity Ave, completely refurbished.
"We have some plans and some developers that are willing to come in down there and totally restructure that corner, like where the Food Pantry building is. That could be retail down below and apartments up above," he explained.
In addition to the ideas floated for that area, he would also like to see walking trails and a place for farmers markets there during the warmer months.
