INLET- An investigation remains ongoing in the wake of an accident in the Western Adirondacks involving two vehicles that sent a pair to the hospital and damaged a local post office Monday afternoon, authorities say.

9-1-1 dispatchers fielded numerous reports of an accident on Route 28 in Inlet, NY. According to authorities, the accident happened right out front of the post office.

Two vehicles were involved, including a Range Rover and a Jeep.

Police investigation so far suggests that the driver of the Range Rover smashed into the Jeep, which was parked roadside. Both vehicles ended up coming to rest alongside the post office, which received damage from the accident.

As of this report, officials say it’s not clear yet as to what may have caused the accident.

There were two people taken to Utica hospitals for evaluation and treatment of injuries, which police said were non-life threatening.
