
CROGHAN- A North Country man died in a fatal motorcycle accident earlier this week in Lewis County.
It happened shortly before 5:00 p.m. Wednesday on the Long Pond Road, town of Croghan. According to investigation via the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office, Michael K. Brennan, 63, of Croghan, NY was operating his 2005 Harley Davidson bike.
Police say he went off the road and struck a tree after failing to negotiate a right curve. The impact ejected Brennan from his bike.
Emergency personnel pronounced him deceased on scene. The roadway was closed down for a brief period while responders worked the scene.
Authorities say the accident remains under investigation.
Sheriff’s deputies received assistance from Croghan Fire Department, along with Lewis County Search & Rescue, New York State Police, Lifenet Helicopter and Lachausse Towing.
