Thanks to a generous helping of recent snow accumulation across much of the Tug Hill Plateau and North Country Region, it looks like there will be at-least some snow to ride on to kick-off the early snowmobile season.
According to Turin Ridge Riders Snowmobile Club Vice President, Josh Leviker, there is no official opening date for snowmobiling in New York State, but for the North Country, the trails typically open following the end of hunting season, if conditions allow.
Until the end of hunting season, which will conclude the night of Sunday, December 8, there is access available to the seasonal roads on Tug Hill. But with that said, until the trails have officially opened and clubs have had a chance to get their grooming fleets out, snowmobilers are asked to stay off any and all closed trails.
