Jacqueline Izzo concedes in race for Rome Mayor

Published on November 09, 2023

Vote 3

ONEIDA COUNTY- Jacqueline Izzo has conceded in the race for Rome Mayor.

This update is according to the latest from WKTV.

By early Wednesday morning, her challenger, Jeff Lanigan, a former Rome City Police Detective, held a 417 vote lead over Izzo, with only 171 outstanding ballots left to count.

The Mayor conceded on Wednesday when the latest numbers from the Board of Elections were revealed.

Izzo was the first female Mayor for Rome, NY. In the Republican Primary back in June, Lanigan managed to beat Izzo, which raised eyebrows for a likely close November race.

“I have contacted Mr. Lanigan and congratulated him on his victory in the 2023 election," she told reporters.
