Total snow accumulations 2 to 4 feet through the ENTIRETY of the prolonged event in the most persistent lake snows. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph will result in areas of blowing snow at times. * WHERE...Northern Cayuga, Oswego, Jefferson, and Lewis Counties. The greatest accumulations will be across the Tug Hill Plateau. * WHEN...Until 6 PM EST Sunday. * IMPACTS...Travel will be very difficult at times, especially on secondary roads. The hazardous conditions will impact the Thursday morning commute.

FOR ONEIDA COUNTY-...LAKE EFFECT SNOW WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 PM EST SUNDAY... * WHAT...Heavy lake effect snow. Snow accumulations between 1 to 3 feet. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph may cause snow drifts several feet deep. * WHERE...Madison, Northern Oneida, Onondaga, and Southern Oneida Counties. * WHEN...Until 4 PM EST Sunday. * IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult to impossible. Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the Wednesday evening and Thursday morning commutes. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches.

FOR HERKIMER COUNTY AND THE ADIRONDACKS-...LAKE EFFECT SNOW WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 PM EST SATURDAY... * WHAT...Heavy lake effect snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 6 and 12 inches with locally higher amounts up to 18 inches in the most persistent snow bands. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph. * WHERE...Hamilton and Herkimer Counties. * WHEN...Until 4 PM EST Saturday. * IMPACTS...Roads will become slick and hazardous. Visibilities may drop below 1/4 mile due to falling and blowing snow. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Lake effect snow bands will likely oscillate between the Mohawk Valley and Adirondacks during this long-duration event, bringing periods of heavy snow and gusty winds resulting in blowing and drifting snow. Snowfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour expected.
