Published on December 12, 2025

Lewis County Sheriffs Office 2

LOWVILLE- An inmate at the Lewis County Jail is accused of making up an assault incident against a corrections officer.

On Thursday, the Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of Travis F. Perkins, 29, of Lowville, NY for one misdemeanor count of falsely reporting an incident that did not occur.

On October 27, the County Jail Sergeant received a complaint from Perkins, alleging that he was punched by a corrections officer, with a closed fist, during a pat-down search.

After intervening several other inmates and reviewing video footage, the Sheriff’s Office determined that no such assault occurred.

At press time, police said that Perkins was issued with an appearance ticket, returnable to Lowville Town Court at a later date.

There were no further details provided.
