LEYDEN- A local man is accused of intoxicated driving and other offenses after authorities responded to calls of a vehicle in a ditch Monday night in Lewis County.

It was shortly after 8:00 p.m. when 9-1-1 dispatchers received complaints of a vehicle that was off in a ditch along the Spencer Road, town of Leyden.

Sheriff’s Office investigation resulted in the arrest of Richard A. Johnson, 55, of Lyons Falls, NY. When Johnson was taken in to the Public Safety Building, he reportedly refused a breath test.

Despite that, police officially charged him for common law DWI, along with aggravated unlicensed operation in the first-degree; using a vehicle w/out an interlock device and refusing a breath test.

Johnson is due to address his charges in Leyden Town Court at a later date.
