LEWIS COUNTY- The village of Copenhagen, NY has asked its fire department to start handing in their assets and equipment by late next week.
In the latest updates from WWNY-TV, village lawyer Candace Randall claims the board of trustees passed a resolution that resulted in a letter being sent to the fire department.
In that letter, the village requests for members to hand over their equipment within the next ten-days. The village board voted in late September to dismantle their fire department.
According to sources, a public hearing has subsequently been set for Monday, November 14 that will focus around a fire contract with Rutland.
The meeting is aimed to begin at 5:30 p.m.
