Lewis County altercation results in charges filed against local man, deputies say

NEW BREMEN- A local man is accused of violating a court order, among other charges, following complaints of a fight over the weekend in Lewis County, authorities say.

Daniel P. Monnat, 28, of Croghan, NY was arrested on Sunday by the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. He is formally charged with one felony count of criminal contempt in the first-degree, one misdemeanor count of criminal mischief in the fourth-degree and one violation of harassment in the second-degree.

According to Deputies, these charges all stem from an alleged domestic incident on Sunday in the town of New Bremen.

It’s reported there was a physical altercation and property was damaged, police said.

At press time, authorities said Monnat was arraigned via CAP Watson Town Court and jailed on $1,500 cash or $3,000 bond.

There were no further details included from the Sheriff’s Office.
