Lewis County man accused of disrupting traffic stop, resisting arrest in Port Leyden: LCSO

PORT LEYDEN- A local man is faced with a list of charges after trying to interfere with a traffic stop over the weekend in Southern Lewis County, authorities are reporting.

Daniel E. Moore, 44, of Port Leyden, NY was arrested by the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office during the midnight hour Sunday. He is officially charged misdemeanor counts of obstruction of governmental administration in the second-degree and resisting arrest, along with one violation disorderly conduct.

Deputies say Mr. Moore allegedly disrupted an active traffic stop on West Main Street. When patrols subsequently moved to arrest Moore, it’s reported he fought and resisted.

He was taken to the Public Safety Building for processing and due to New York’s Bail Reform Law, he was released with appearance tickets.

State Police (Remsen) and Port Leyden Ambulance provided assistance.
