NEW BREMEN AND CROGHAN- A Lewis County man is accused of criminal mischief in the wake of two separate incidents this week, authorities say.

Ryan M. Noftsier, 28, of Croghan, NY was arrested Wednesday and Thursday by the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.

On Wednesday, deputies say he was charged with misdemeanor criminal mischief in the fourth-degree for allegedly breaking numerous decorative items on a shelf. The incident reportedly occurred during a verbal argument in the town of New Bremen.

On Thursday, Noftsier was charged with felony criminal mischief in the second-degree. This time, deputies allege that Noftsier damaged an apartment in Croghan. The felony charge stems from the investigation into his original arrest.

For the misdemeanor charge, Noftsier processed and issued with an appearance ticket.

For the felony charge, he was processed at the Public Safety Building and held on a warrant issued via New York State Parole.
