WATERTOWN- A local resident is faced with felony DWI charges following a reported property damage accident this week in Jefferson County, with injuries.

It happened shortly after 11:00 a.m. Tuesday morning in the town of Watertown.

Investigation via the New York State Police suggests that Ashley R. Ames, 40, of Castorland, NY was arrested a short while following the incident.

Ames was formally charged with one felony count each of aggravated DWI (w/a child passenger – first offense) and aggravated unlicensed operation in the first-degree. Furthermore, Ames was charged with one count each of operating a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs; criminally possessing a controlled substance in the seventh-degree and acting in a manner injurious to a child (under 17).

Troopers said there was one person injured in the crash, however; details were not provided in the initial reports.

At press time, Ames’ arrest status was listed as ‘other’ and there were no further details released.
