WATSON & DIANA- Authorities in Lowville have announced the arrest of a local man, who is accused in a Lewis County ATV theft investigation.

David A. Sutton, 31, of Copenhagen, NY was arrested Tuesday by the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. He is officially charged with one felony count of criminally possessing stolen property in the fourth-degree.

The arrest stems from complaints received last Saturday, regarding a stolen ATV in the town of Watson.

With the help of New York State Police Investigators, authorities managed to find the ATV Tuesday in the town of Diana. Police said that Sutton was to be in possession of a 2001 Honda Foreman Rubicon just before the ATV was discovered.

In addition, Sutton was also charged Tuesday by the New York State Police (Lowville) for felony criminally possessing stolen property in the third-degree (property value > $3,000).

Before this update was revealed, the State Police issued a notice seeking the public’s assistance for a case at a seasonal camp in the town of Diana, where a pair of Honda ATV’s were stolen sometime last month. As of this report, authorities have not yet specified if these cases and charges are all correlated or not.

Due to New York’s Bail Reform Law, Sutton was released on his own recognizance following his arraignment in Turin Town CAP Court.
