LOWVILLE- Be wary of companies or individuals soliciting reduced rates for work they offer – that’s what the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office warns to residents.
According to the latest news release from the Sheriff’s Office, officials advise that companies will often go from home to home and offer to execute a job at a significantly reduced rate – citing extra and left-over material.
The Sheriff’s Office says companies will often start the work, but then will charge extra fees or complete more work than verbally agreed upon.
This leaves the homeowner paying extra, the Sheriff’s Office emphasizes. The message authorities are pressing is for families to avoid high-pressure sales.
Instead, homeowners should take time to checklist the company offering services. Getting multiple estimates can help with this, officials said.
In addition, the Sheriff’s Office urges not to sign any form of documentation unless you have completely read it and fully understand what the contract implies.
