LOWVILLE- Lewis County officials are in the process of working with designers to establish a series of new recreational paths for their ‘rails to trails’ initiative.
At the tune of $600,000, Alta Planning & Design created a master plan and presented it to the county, which will ultimately convert old railroad beds into trails for walking, snowmobiling and ATV’s.
This development is according to the latest from WWNY-TV.
Although there seems to be support for this project from recreational vehicle users, there has also been some skepticism and opposition from those who worry about trail misuse.
Some residents have expressed concerns in past reports about having machines zipping by their property.
We plan to speak with county officials for a more in-depth segment to be aired in the near future.
