PORT LEYDEN- A group of local cemetery board officials are reaching out to the public in hopes of solving what appears to be a blatant vandalism case in Southern Lewis County.
According to members of Port Leyden Cemetery Board, the chapel, located on the cemetery property on Pearl Street, sustained damage to eight of its windows.
It appears they were all smashed and/or damaged on purpose, officials told us.
A witness walking their dog noticed the damage and reached out to the cemetery board.
Although there is no exact time-frame of when this incident occurred as of this report, officials say it did happen recently.
The cemetery board said they have begun working with police investigators.
We have reached out to authorities for more information and we will share more if and when those details become available.
