WEBB-A man who was tubing in the Western Adirondacks over the weekend and went into cardiac arrest has officially been pronounced deceased, investigators say.
Steven J. Guerra, 58, of Utica, NY was tubing with his brother Saturday afternoon on First Lake, according to Town of Webb Police Department. Herkimer County 9-1-1 received calls shortly before 3:30 p.m. that Guerra had fallen off from his tube and was having trouble breathing.
Police say he shortly lost consciousness and went into cardiac arrest.
Emergency responders rushed to the scene and attempted life saving measures. They managed to get him to shore, near the Indian Point area. Unfortunately, their efforts were unsuccessful as Guerra was pronounced deceased by authorities on scene.
An official autopsy revealed that Guerra died from cardiac arrest and had a history of such health issues in the past.
Old Forge Ambulance and New York State DEC Officers assisted on scene.
