WATERTOWN- A local emergency official has received an award that recognizes their outstanding public service and commitment to improving the overall health and wellness of their community.
During a special luncheon Monday in Watertown, NY, Fort Drum Regional Health Planning Organization and North Country Health Compass honored Robert Mackenzie III, AEMT-P, with the Community Health Hero Award.
Mackenzie serves as Director for Lewis County’s Office of Fire and Emergency Management.
In addition, Anthony Coles, MSW, Crisis Outreach Worker for Jefferson County and James “Jay” Moore, RN, Gouverneur Hospital’s Emergency Department Nurse Manager, St. Lawrence County, were also honored at the gathering.
Mackenzie became Lewis County’s EMS Coordinator in 2012 and soon was promoted to director of Emergency Management in 2014.
Whether it’s the middle of day or night, Mackenzie spends countless hours being involved in just about every emergency call that comes in.
The Community Health Hero Award is given in honor of National Rural Health Day, which falls on November 17 this year.
