Local fire departments respond to structure fire at Barrett Paving

LEWIS COUNTY- A structure fire Thursday night in Southern Lewis County was brought under control, emergency responders say.

It was around 8:30 p.m. when Port Leyden Fire Department was called out to a structure fire. It happened at Barrett Paving Materials, 2006 NY-12, Boonville, NY 13309.

According to emergency responders, firefighters encountered a “sizable” blaze, which involved some machinery.

Fortunately, the flames were brought under control. Boonville Fire Department was called for mutual aid. Firefighters spent time dousing hotspots.

Details, including a possible or confirmed cause, were not provided in the initial update from Port Leyden Fire Department.
