Local firefighters endure harsh winter conditions battling garage blaze in Steuben

ONEIDA COUNTY- Firefighters extinguished a garage blaze late Friday afternoon in the Steuben, NY area.

It was shortly before 5:00 p.m. when dispatchers received reports of a structure fire on Starr Hill Road.

Remsen Fire Department was the primary responder, with mutual aid from Barneveld and Holland Patent. Firefighters discovered a detached garage on fire.

Crews worked for the next three-hours in wind, snow and sub-zero temperatures to douse the flames.

There were no injuries reported and a cause was not specified in the reports from Remsen Fire Department at press time.
