
TURIN- A local man was jailed for allegedly assaulting a teenage boy late last month in Southern Lewis County.
The Sheriff’s Office says Michael A. Sovocool, 46, of Turin, NY was arrested last Friday, September 29. He is officially charged with one felony count of assault in the second-degree and one misdemeanor count of endangering the welfare of a child.
According to Deputies, the arrest stems from a child abuse complaint in the town of Turin.
As of this report, investigation suggests that Sovocool allegedly threw a 14-year-old boy into a wall of his residence, and then began punching him with a closed fist and then stomping him with a boot.
Following an arraignment, Sovocool was jailed, without bail.
Members from Lewis County Child Protection and South Lewis Central School assisted in the case.
