UTICA- A local man from Oneida County is receiving treatment at a burn center after being shocked by live power wires.

Jason Carson, of Forestport, NY, was one of three people who were shocked after the bucket of their lift truck touched live power wires over the weekend.

Carson and the two others were involved in a contracting project in East Utica. They were replacing a building roof on Kossuth Ave.

At just before 1:00 p.m. Sunday, they were coming down from the roof via a lift truck. Utica Fire Chief Scott Ingersoll told WKTV reporters that the lift came within six-inches of the lines.

All three, including two in the bucket and one man on the ground were all shocked and severely burnt.

According to a GoFundMe page, Carson said he was being taken to a burn center. He expressed extreme joy for the work of emergency responders.

“I thought God was going to take me but you guys were like angel's swooping in to save us,” he said. “I've never been so thankful to be alive.”

There will be a benefit for Jason Carson and Nate Griffith, who was also burned in the incident, on Saturday, March 25 at Forestport Fire Department.

The benefit is aimed to begin that day at 1:00 p.m.
