
ONEIDA COUNTY- A local resident is faced with charges, including a felony, following reports of an assault case overnight in Northern Oneida County, authorities say.

Jeffrey R. Lawson, 28, of Boonville, NY was arrested early Friday by the New York State Police (Marcy). He is officially charged with one felony count of assault (w/intent to cause injury w/a weapon) and one misdemeanor count of criminally possessing a weapon in the fourth-degree (intent to use).
According to Troopers, the arrest stems from an alleged assault incident shortly after midnight in the town of Boonville.
We do have confirmation from Boonville Fire Chief Dave Pritchard Jr. that a medical helicopter was called and landed at the town barn. With that being said, we are still waiting on further updates from the State Police to confirm if the helicopter call is tied to this reported incident.
At press time, Lawson's arrest status was listed as held and the State Police said an investigation was pending.
