LOWVILLE- A local resident is accused of DWI after police and EMS responded to the call of an unresponsive person last weekend.

On Saturday, the Village Police Department assisted EMS in responding to reports of an unresponsive person while in line at the car wash on Utica Boulevard.

Police identified the driver as Jeffrey Mayer, 50, of Lowville, NY. While interviewing with Mayer, police allege that they detected the odor of alcoholic beverage on his breath.

After failing field sobriety tests, Mayer was placed under arrest and charged with DWI.

During processing, police reported that Mayer registered a .16% BAC.

At press time, police said that Mayer was issued with an appearance ticket, which is returnable to Lowville Town Court at a later date.
