Local resident charged in Lewis County domestic dispute, Troopers say

DENMARK- A North Country resident is faced with charges filed in the wake of a reported domestic dispute in Lewis County, authorities say.

Aaron S. Smith, 31, of Carthage, NY was arrested Monday evening by the New York State Police (Carthage). Smith is officially charged with one misdemeanor count each of criminal mischief in the fourth-degree and criminally possessing a controlled substance in the seventh-degree.

According to Troopers, these charges stem from an alleged domestic dispute in the town of Denmark, which was reported to authorities earlier in the afternoon.

At press time, police said an investigation was pending. Smith was issued with an appearance ticket and there were no further details provided.
