VERNON- A head-on crash Monday morning in Oneida County resulted in injuries for two drivers, including a local resident.
It happened shortly before 9:30 a.m. on Prospect Street, the Sheriff’s Office says.
Investigation thus far suggests that David Ayers (no age provided), of Poland, NY was heading east in a Ford pick-up and was struck head-on by a westbound Honda Civic, reportedly driven by Douglas Arnold (no age provided), of Oneida, NY.
Police say that Arnold failed to keep right while driving his Honda Civic and crossed into the oncoming lane.
Ayers’ pick-up overturned from the collision and police say that both vehicles sustained significant damage.
Prospect Street was shut down for a time, but since has been re-opened to traffic.
Arnold was flown to SUNY Upstate for reports of head injuries. Meanwhile, Ayers was taken to Oneida Health Hospital for chest pain and other minor injuries.
As of this report, police have issued no citations.
