
ONEIDA COUNTY- A dog was rescued off from thin ice Wednesday morning near the Remsen, NY area.
It was just before noontime when the Trenton Joint Fire District and their Water Rescue Team, including trained members from Barneveld and Holland Patent, responded to assist Remsen Fire Department with a stranded dog on the Fairchild Road.
According to Barneveld Fire Department, the dog, named Archie, had wandered out onto a pond, which was glazed over with a thin layer of ice.
The cold water rescue team successfully reached the dog and managed to bring him ashore before being reunited with his family.
Members from New York State DEC ENCON assisted. There were no injuries reported.
