Local, state and federal figures are reacting in the wake of the assassination of Charlie Kirk, who was an American political activist, author and co-founder of the conservative organization – Turning Point USA.

“We have to be better than this. So much more unites us than divides us and we have to remember that,” said Oneida County Executive Anthony J. Picente Jr.

“I am deeply troubled by the tragix death of Charlie Kirk. No matter your political views, violence has no place in our country,” said New York State Assemblyman Ken Blankenbush (R, C – Black River).

“Our country knows Charlie as a loving father of two precious children and a dedicated husband with a huge heart and deep love for America,” said North Country Congresswoman Elise Stefanik (R-NY-21).

As of this publication, authorities in Utah say they have been reviewing video footage of the suspect, who used a high-powered, bolt action rifle.

The suspect has yet to be captured by police as of this report. Authorities say the shooter managed to jump off from the building they were positioned on before fleeing into a nearby neighborhood.

Kirk was shot and killed during an event on Wednesday at Utah Valley University. He was 31-years old.
