Lowville man accused of interfering with police investigation also allegedly possessed meth and an empty syringe

BOONVILLE- A local man from Lewis County is accused of possessing meth and a syringe after also allegedly interfering with a police investigation in the village.

With the initial assistance from the Sheriff’s Office, Boonville Police responded to a dispute at around 12:30 noontime Tuesday in the 100 block of Main Street.

While interviewing a resident there, police said they encountered David A. Gerdon III, 31, of Lowville, NY, who was reportedly trespassing and meddling with police in their investigation.

After several orders and warnings, Gerdon III finally left the area, however; continued to drive by numerous times while officers were still on-scene, Boonville Police said.

Upon concluding their duty and resuming regular patrol, another call came in shortly from the same address.

This time with the State Police assisting, authorities said they found Gerdon III back at the scene.

He was then taken into custody by Boonville Police and while officers conducted a routine search, they reportedly found a smoking pipe that contained meth and an empty syringe in Gerdon’s possession.

Gerdon III has been formally charged with obstructing governmental administration, criminally possessing a controlled substance in the seventh-degree and trespassing.

He was released with an appearance ticket and is due to answer the accusations in Boonville Town Court at a later date.
