Lowville Police arrest, charge North Country man for allegedly texting, calling protected person in court order

LOWVILLE- A North Country man is charged for violating a Lewis County Court Order by allegedly reaching out to a protected person via mobile phone.

Steven Ashley, 45, of Gouverneur, NY was arrested and charged by the Lowville Village Police Department with one count of criminal contempt in the second-degree.   

Police say they investigated a protection order violation at the courthouse. According to Lowville Police, Ashley is accused of sending text messages and attempting a phone call to a protected party, which violated a Lewis County Family Court order issued by Judge Daniel King. 

At press time, police said that Ashley was turned over to the Sheriff's Office and arraigned with additional (*unspecified*) charges before being sent to the county jail on cash bail.
