OLD FORGE- A traffic stop over the weekend in the Western Adirondacks led to a drug bust, authorities say.
Anthony P. Chandler, 39, of Saranac Lake, NY was arrested Saturday by the Town of Webb Police Department. He is officially charged with two counts of criminally possessing a controlled substance in the seventh-degree.
It was shortly after midnight Saturday when officers stopped a vehicle along State Route 28 in Old Forge, NY after spotting that the inspection was expired.
Although he was not driving, Chandler, the reported owner, was found inside the vehicle. Police learned he had an active warrant out of Oneida County.
During the traffic stop, police said Chandler possessed a quantity of alleged heroin and meth.
The reported driver, Kelcy M. Sanderson, 36, of Saranac Lake, NY, was charged with uninspected motor vehicle and aggravated unlicensed operation in the third-degree after police learned her license was suspended.
Prior to being turned over to Oneida County on the warrant, Chandler was processed and issued with appearance tickets for Webb Town Court.
Sanderson was released with traffic tickets.
