
PHILADELPHIA- A North Country resident is faced with numerous charges, including felonies, following complaints of gun shots fired in Jefferson County, authorities say.
LaShawn J. Whitfield, 50, of Philadelphia, NY was arrested Sunday evening by the New York State Police (Lowville). Whitfield is officially charged with one felony count each of criminally possessing a weapon in the third-degree (previous conviction) and criminally possessing stolen property in the fourth-degree (firearms); along with two misdemeanor counts each of reckless engenderment and menacing in the second-degrees.
Troopers say these charges all stem from complaints of shots fired in the village of Philadelphia, NY Sunday evening.
At press time, police said an investigation was pending.
Whitfield’s arrest status was not updated and there were no further details provided.
